. Three pigs exhibiting unexpected E blood group phenotypes prompted family studies and special matings as a means of elucidation. Evidence is presented for 2 new alleles, E abg ( E 10 ) and E adbg ( E 11 ). A rearrangement of the theoretical alignment of the genetic units controlling the E system is proposed to accommodate the observed phenotypes. Recombination frequencies at 2 points within the complex E locus are estimated to be 0.20 and 0.04 %.
