. The specificity of an antibody originally thought to be anti‐P 1 has been shown to depend upon the I T antigenicity of P 1 positive cells. Anti‐P 1 agglutinates P 1 + cells irrespective of their I T content, whereas the strength of reaction of anti‐I T P 1 correlates with the I T antigenicity of P 1 + cells having similar P 1 reactivity. Anti‐I T P 1 does not react with adult I T + P 1 — cells, but the original serum weakly agglutinated I T + + P 1 —cells from cord bloods, due to the presence of a trace of free anti‐I T .
