Summary. A new technique, employing antibody coated latex particles, for the labelling and precise estimation of minor red cell populations is described. The technique is shown to be capable of detecting minor populations diluted to at least 1 in 1,000,000 in the major population. Labelled cells are easily differentiated from unlabelled cells in a blood film and there seems to be no inherent limit to the sensitivity of this technique. Examinations of artificial cell mixtures revealed labelled cells in expected numbers.
