Summary An account is given of the first case of transient polyagglutinability in a new‐born infant who also had icterus gravis neonatorum. This polyagglutinability is interpreted as a prenatally occurring T‐transformation of the foetal erythrocytes. No infection which might have caused such a T‐transformation could be demonstrated. A causal relationship between the polyagglutinability and the neonatal jaundice is considered unlikely.
