Penetration of the Antinuclear Factor (A.N.F.) into Chicken Red Cells

Summary The penetration of the A.N.F. into the chicken red cell was studied by absorption experiments and by the fluorescent antibody technique. It appeared that if the chicken red cells were kept as intact as possible, the A.N.F. was unable to reach the nucleus. The influence of complement on the phenomenon was studied. Résumé La pénétration de l'A.N.F. (facteur anti‐noyau) dans l'érythrocyte de poulet a été étudiée grâce à des méthodes d'absorption et des méthodes d'immunofluorescence. Si les érythrocytes de poulet sont conservés aussi intacts que possible, il se trouve que l'A.N.F. est incapable d'atteindre le noyau. L'influence du complément dans ce phénomène a été étudiée. Zusammenfassung Das Eindringen des A.N.F. in Hühnererythrozyten wurde mittels der Absorptionstechnik und der Verwendung fluoreszierender Antikürper untersucht. Es zeigte sich, daß Hühnererythrozyten, so intakt wie müglich konserviert, das Vordringen dieses Faktors zum Zellkern behindern. Der Einfluß des Komplementes auf dieses Phäanomen wurde untersucht.
