Arteriosonde 1217 is a new device for automatic recording of indirect systolic and diastolic blood pressure with the aid of a cuff under which an ultrasonic pulse detector is placed. This device has been tested by comparing measurements performed with the device to conventional measurements using a stethoscope and direct recording. The device has proved satisfactory and gives results in good agreement with those of already established methods. This device is specially advantageous for monitoring blood pressure during surgery and intensive care. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Die Arteriosonde 1217 ist ein neues Gerät zur auto‐matischen Registrierung des indirekten systolischen und diastolischen Blutdrucks mit Hilfe einer Manschette, unter der ein Ultraschall‐Pulsdetektor liegt. Dieses Gerät wurde einer Vergleichsuntersuchung mit der konventionellen Stethoskop‐Manschetten‐Technik unterzogen. Das Gerät arbeitete zufriedenstellend und ergab eine gute Übereinstimmung mit den bereits gebräuchlichen Methoden. Es erscheint besonders vorteilhaft zur Blutdrucküberwachung während Operationen und in der Intensivpflege.
