Acetylcholine chloride inhibited ethylene production in etiolated bean tissues and prevented to some extent the IAA‐promoted opening of the bean hypocotyl hooks. The results were interpreted on the basis of acetylcholine mimicking the effects of red light on auxin content and ethylene production.
