Variations in uptake of sodium and rubidium were ob) served along the apical 8 cm segments of barley roots. Dif) ferent patterns of uptake were obtained for low‐ and for high‐salt roots. The validity of using batches of entire barley roots for kinetic analysis of ion uptake is questioned.
