Our observation of clustering of short P‐R intervals in one sibship prompted the examination of possible genetic control of the P‐R interval in healthy adults. Results presented from family and twin studies support the notion that the length of the P‐R interval is genetically controlled and that, in some kindreds, major genes may be involved.
