The effectiveness of a topical steroid, flunisolide, was evaluated in patients with perennial rhinitis. Thirty‐four patients went through a double‐blind cross‐over study. comparing flunisolide 200 μg per day with placebo. The symptoms were assessed over two treatment periods each of 4 weeks, with a 2 weeks washout period in between. There was a statistically significant difference on favour of flunisolide. About half of the patients complained of mild initial irritation from both active drug and placebo.
