the time-course of penetration of lipophilic drugs is multi phasic. The first phase of rapid penetration may involve the microholes created by the microneedle roller, by contrast with the second phase of rapid penetration. Among the various treatment strategies, the drug–roller–drug method may maximize the results of MTS by minimizing both the amount of drug formulation lost to the microneedle roller and limiting the time lag between the formation of microholes and their infiltration by the drug formulation.
