A case of toxic shock syndrome with attendant clinical and laboratory abnormalities is presented. The coexistence of systemic lupus erythematosus in this patient emphasizes the need to consider this in the differential diagnosis. Since a broad spectrum of disease severity does exist and cutaneous manifestations are often prominent, milder forms of this syndrome may present to the dermatologist for evaluation.
