. The occurrence is reported of fragmentary simuliids among Pleistocene fossil arthropod assemblages recovered from deposits in Norfolk of Ipswichian (last) interglacial age, 130 000–120 000 years BP. The condition of each of the nineteen available specimens is described, and sixteen of them are photographically illustrated. Specimens are identified as Simulium s. l. but reliable identification beyond generic level is precluded by lack of diagnostic taxonomic characters. The palaeoenviron‐mental significance of simuliids in Quaternary fossil assemblages is briefly discussed; it is thought that the simuliids indicate a palaeoclimate no colder, and possibly warmer, than today.
