. The genus Abantis Hopffer contains eight species in western West Africa. One species, Abantis pseudonigeriana sp.n., is described as new. Distributional notes and a key are given for all species. In general the species of this genus are rare and poorly represented in collections, but there are interesting examples of pairs of very similar species (nigeriana and pseudonigeriana; elegantula and maesseni).
