SUMMARY Land plant debris occurs in appreciable quantities in the shelf sediments off Ventura, southern California. Concentrations range from less than 2 g (wet weight)/1 (less than 250 g/m 2 ) to 53 g/1 (10,662 g/m 2 ). The highest values are found near the outer edge of the shelf.
