Two cases of primary intracranial germ cell tumours are reported. Both serum alpha‐fetoprotein (AFP) and serum human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) were raised preoperatively, but became normal during postoperative radio‐ and chemotherapy. Immunofluorescence microscopy of tissue specimens from both tumours showed a slight staining for AFP mainly localized in the endodermal vesicles, whereas a more intensive staining for hCG could be identified in the giant cells.
