Identification of individual bands in polyacrylamide gels was performed by crossed‐line immunoelectrophoresis in agarose gel secondary to polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Line absorption and rocket‐line immunoelectrophoresis were used for identification. Secondly it was shown that incubation of the serum sample with sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) does not distort the immunoelectrophoresis pattern, apart from the lipoproteins, provided that the SDS is removed from the polyacrylamide by washing before the immunoelectrophoresis. Simultaneous estimation of apparent molecular weights and identification of the proteins can thus be made.
