Cytospora oleina was isolated from dead twigs of olive associated with old cankers in the Mount Pelion region of central Greece. Inoculation of young trees with pure cultures of the fungus caused twig death in olive, especially when applied in autumn, and xylem discoloration in apple, plum, cherry, peach and apricot.
