SUMMARY Carbofuran, phoxim and thiofanox dips and aldicarb, carbofuran, phenamiphos and thiofanox granular applications were compared with a thionazin dip in pot experiments in a glasshouse to control stem nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci (Kühn) Filipjev) in narcissus and tulip bulbs. Carbofuran and phoxim controlled stem nematode as effectively as thionazin. Treatment of bulbs with thionazin, carbofuran or phoxim prevented stem nematodes laying eggs in the bulbs. Phoxim has the advantage of low mammalian toxicity.
