SUMMARY Narcissus bulbs were treated with various concentrations of formaldehyde in hot water at different times relative to lifting and planting. There was no improvement in control of Fusarium oxysporum basal rot by using formaldehyde concentrations greater than the usual 0.2 percent. The date of treatment was critical, and better control of the disease was obtained by treating in mid‐July than in mid‐August, although flower production in the following season was impaired.
