SUMMARY Two benomyl soil drenches at 3–6 g a.i./ll i./m 2 applied soon after wilt had appeared in the crop and again a fortnight later gave good control of Verticillium cinerescens in a commercial crop of carnations. Satisfactory control of wilt caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. dianthi was obtained in two commercial crops by drenches of benomyl at 3–6 g a.i./5.5 l./m 2 when applied soon after planting and subsequently at three‐monthly intervals.
