SUMMARY The incidence of verticillium wilt in strawberries was markedly affected not only by cultivar, but by plant spacing, defoliation in the previous year, and fertilizer application. It is suggested that a closer study of these and other components of the environment might lead to a more satisfactory means of control than is at present available.
