SUMMARY Sprays (0·1 per cent) of bromophos or dioxathion afforded complete protection against both feeding ptmctures and mines of Phytomyza syngenesiae and could be used with parasites and predators. Other effective chemicals were azinphosr‐methyl, bendiocarb, carbophenothion, cartap, dimethoate and pirimicarb.
