SUMMARY Runner production from strawberry plants was markedly affected by severity of verticillium wilt. Runners from 10 cultivars examined became infected by transmission of the pathogen through the stolon as well as from the soil. The ready isolation of the pathogen from symptomless parent plants and runners indicates one method by which this disease is spread to new plantations.
