SUMMARY A severe leaf blight of tomato caused by Stemphylium botryosum Wallr. is reported, and the pathogenicity of the fungus was confirmed. This is believed to be the first record of this fungus attacking tomato foliage in England. Benomyl sprays and drenches had been applied to the affected crops. In experiments, various benomyl drenches and sprays did not control the disease and there was no evidence that it was encouraged by such treatments. No seedborne infection was detected.
