SUMMARY Observations at a holding in south‐west England in 1970 and 1971 have shown that the mite predator Phytoseiulus persimilis Athias‐Henriot can effectively control red spider mite, Tetranychus urticae (Koch), on roses under glass where the grower is willing to dispense with sulphur fumigation.
