SUMMARY Further studies on cocksfoot mottle and phleum mottle viruses have extended their known host ranges amongst the Gramineae, and examination of their physical properties confirms the suggestion by Walters (1969) that these viruses belong in the southern bean mosaic group of beetle‐transmitted plant viruses.
