SUMMARY The transmission of Rhynchosporium secalis by infected barley seed was demonstrated, 2 per cent of the seeds from a heavily infected crop producing infected seedlings. Complete control of this source of inoculum was achieved by hot‐water treatment, but only partial contrpl by an organomercury dust seed dressing.
