An investigation on cv. Cappelle Desprez wheat indicated that infected plants yield about 30 per cent that of healthy plants, but much of this yield consists of very small, shrivelled seeds, so that the useful yield of infected plants is very small. At the present levels of infection, however, it is thought that Cephalosporium gramineum is unlikely to be a pathogen of economic importance.
