SUMMARY Control of house sparrows (Passer domesticus ) on experimental plots of ripening cereals justifies more expensive techniques than on commercially grown cereals. Sowing of decoy crops of very early to very late ripening cultivars and enclosing these in a cage of netting designed to trap sparrows offers a promising method of minimizing damage.
