SUMMARY Galls due to Anguina sp. (Nematoda, Tylenchidae) occurring in samPl.es of commercial cocksfoot ( Dactylis glomerata L.) seed are described and illustrated, and earlier records of Anguina on cocksfoot grass are reviewed. In a pot experiment the nematode induced galls, and reproduced in them, on basal shoots of cocksfoot Plants as well as in the inflorescences, but shoot galls were not observed in fields from which infested seed had originated. A simPl.e method is described for detecting Anguitm larvae in samPl.es of grass seed. The Anguina species from cocksfoot differs from A. agrostis (Steinbuch) Filipjev but has not yet been identified with certainty.
