SUMMARY Spraying trials against the currant clearwing moth ( Synanthedon tipuliformis ) on gooseberries during 1962–1964 showed that an application of 0·08 per cent azinphos‐methyl soon after harvest decreased the number of dying bushes and gave an increased yield of fruit. Further trials, using the same insecticide, in 1965–1966 showed that the larval population in the treated bushes was decreased by 50–67 per cent.
