SUMMARY Methods of cucumber seed production in the Lea Valley district of England, where Mvcosphaerella melonis is widespread, were examined in 1967. No evidence that this fungus is seed‐borne on cucumber was obtained. An illustrated description of the pathogen is given, and diagnosis by inoculating test plants described.
