SYNOPSIS The types of neurosecretory cell occurring in the adult brain of 23 species of Lepidoptera are described, and their numbers and distribution recorded. A system of classification based on existing descriptions of neurosecretory cells from Lepidoptera and insects from other orders is proposed.
