SYNOPSIS The histology of the midgut and caeca of normal adults of Locusta migratoria L. with a partially full gut is described and compared with the condition in the newly emerged adult. The changes due to starvation and feeding are discussed. Details of the conditiops in fifth instar hoppers at various periods of their development are given.
