A 53 year old woman presented with enlargement of a sacral meningocoele and pain in the back and legs. She died from a pulmonary embolus. Fibrosarcoma, apparently arising in the sacral region, involved the leptomeninges and nerve roots as far rostrally as the pons. Nine previously reported cases are discussed.
