Light and electron microscopic examinations of autonomic ganglia from cases of grass sickness have been carried out. The main alterations are pyknosis, cytoplasmic vacuolation originating from granular endoplasmic reticulum, and axonal dystrophy. The cell body changes bear some resemblance to chromatolysis.
