provide astrong and timely case for evaluat-ing the reliability and validity ofmulti-station selection centres (SCs,sometimes referred to as assess-ment centres). In developing thisimportant research topic, we high-light: (i) important differencesbetween SCs and objective struc-tured clinical examinations(OSCEs); (ii) the importance ofdemonstrating the constructvalidity of selection methods, and(iii) psychometric issues surround-ing the reliability of observer rat-ings and the use of generalisabilitytheory (G theory).First used over 60 years ago, SCs area measurement methodology basedon a multitrait–multimethodapproach (MTMM).
