SUMMARY This paper reports on the establishment of the Cambridge Community‐Based Clinical Course and places on record details of the organization, goals and teaching arrangements of the course. It also identifies the main questions which are being addressed in the course and which must be answered before it will be clear whether such attachments are generally viable.
