Summary It has been suggested that simple resting and therapeutic exercises may be beneficial in reducing or eliminating clicking on the TMJ during mandibular movements. In the reported experiments the effects of short periods of exercise and rest on the amplitude of the TMJ clicking in non‐dysfunction subjects was recorded and compared. This preliminary study suggests that the TMJ clicking sound is affected unpredictably under different imposed conditions.
