Some physical properties of dental modelling waxes and of their main constituents

summary Details of an X‐ray diffraction study on six dental modelling waxes and on known constituents of modelling waxes are described. The results of thermal expansion, thermal analysis and flow characteristics tests on the materials are given. Application of the knowledge obtained from the investigation is suggested in the formulation of a modelling wax consisting of a binary mixture of paraffin wax and microcrystalline wax.
