BARRIBALL K. L. & WHILE A. E. (1995) Journal of Nursing Management 3, 247–254 The different appraisal profiles of a group of nurses and nursing aides: implications for policy initiatives This paper focuses upon the extent to which different groups of nurses and nursing aides are operating within appraisal systems and highlights how appraisals are largely offered on an ad hoc basis to a selected few. The implications of these findings are discussed in the light of recent developments within the health service generally and the nursing profession more specifically.
