SUMMARY A new type of image‐forming, non‐raster isotropic scanning is presented. Isotropic scanning may be used in electron microscopy, for TV systems, image processing equipment, etc. With this approach it is possible to obtain less distorted images than with raster scanning, and more reliable quantitative characteristics in the image processing systems.
