SUMMARY For many applications it is a considerable benefit to be able to compare readily several samples within a set while avoiding the inconvenience of opening the microscope chamber to exchange individual specimens. For complex specimens full specimen manipulation is also required. This paper describes the design and construction of a specimen holder which carries six specimens, is rapidly exchangeable with alternative holders, and retains the full range of movements of the original eucentric single‐specimen holder of a Philips PSEM 501.
