SUMMARY The design of an efficient mechanical mixer for embedding media for electron microscopy is described. The resins are mixed within a closed bottle mounted on the plate of a commercial vibration sander. The primary aim of the construction was to reduce the exposure to potentially toxic substances; in addition it has proven to be more convenient to use the apparatus than to mix the resins by hand.
