SUMMARY The electron beam stability of di‐para‐anthracene has been investigated with regard to the study, in situ , of the mechanism of photodimerization of anthracene and related materials. It is found that the electron beam converts di‐para‐anthracene to anthracene, the process taking place in a single crystal to single crystal manner. Electron doses greater than 6.0 × 10 −5 C mm −2 result in a diffraction pattern corresponding to the anthracene lattice.
