SUMMARY Four microscopes that belonged to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832) are preserved in the instrument collection of the Goethe‐Haus, Weimar, D.D.R.; these are described and illustrated. The four instruments are: a simple and compound microscope by George Adams Sr, a compound microscope by L. F. Dellebarre, an unsigned solar microscope, and a universal microscope after W. F. von Gleichen‐Russworm.
