SUMMARY Time‐lapse mechanisms, specially intended for use in conjunction with the microscope, are described. They are extremely simplified and of very low cost. An unmodified camera is driven continuously at low speed and the exposure is made by means of an electronic flashlight. Synchronization of the flash is secured by a microswitch which activates the flashlight when the shutter of the camera is open. Two equipments (for 35 mm and 16 mm film) of this type were built and found very satisfactory.
