  This paper is an outline report of larger study dealing with the topic of computer maintenance in schools. It examines the responses to surveys of schools, a maintenance firm and English LEAs. The results of these surveys are given showing, in the main, that maintenance is a neglected aspect of the introduction of IT in schools. It is argued that this has implications for both teaching and resource use.
