SUMMARY Chromatography and immunoassays are the two principal techniques used in research and clinical laboratories for the measurement of drug concentrations in biological fluids. The purpose of this article is to provide the reader with a general overview of these techniques and to present their relative merits and limitations. A glossary of technical terms is included at the end of the review.
